What if I have an injury or diagnosis where movement can be difficult, is Pilates for me?

We always suggest consulting your physician before you start any exercise program.

But let me just say, we feel for you. Chronic pain can be so challenging and frustrating. Pilates can help.

Movement can be medicine. Low-impact movement like Pilates doesn’t put extra stress on your system. It lubricates joints, reduces inflammation, and releases tight muscles.

Pilates opens up our breath pathways, and stimulates lymphatic fluid. It can even decrease our feelings of pain. The hormones we produce when doing Pilates workouts actually help to reduce pain. It can feel counterintuitive to want to move when you feel pain, but sometimes, it's exactly what you need.
